Challenge Week: Get Inspired, Be Well, Have Fun

This is seriously my favorite week of the year.  Summer vacations are over, work is humming along, the kids are settled into their school routines, even the air has a snap of briskness to it.  There is no better time to live better; to reach for the next level.

I’m designing Challenge Week to be done at any time of the year, so you can come back and re-take on the challenge whenever you want for a little boost.  The idea is to sample different areas of wellness and incorporate an idea or two into your life.   Do I expect you to have a complete overhaul?  To suddenly go from couch potato to fitness role model? No.  I have found over the years that I gradually move up level by level to a healthier lifestyle.  I’m ready to get to the next level and I thought you might want to come along with me.

Come join me as we go for it!  Here’s our plan for next week:

Sunday / Prep: We’re going to the grocery store to stock up and we’re checking fitness gear; if needed a run to the local sporting goods store will be in order.  We’re going to toss the crap out of the house, yes even the kids’ snacks!  The most important thing, we’re going to get all the humans living under your roof on board.   They don’t have to do the challenge with you, but they do have to support you as you do it!

Monday / Food: Focus on food.  Tips on cooking fast and clean at home.  We’ll focus on veggies, quick nutritious snacks, and how to eat out effectively.

Tuesday / Cardio: Why cardio works, what it does, and what it doesn’t do for you.  How to develop a cardio routine that you’ll actually stay with.

Wednesday / Weight Training: From free weights at home to band work to mind/body disciplines like yoga and Pilates.  We’ll cover how weight training improves your health and longevity; it’s such an important key to healthy living.

Thursday / De-stress: One of the biggest contributors to death (yes, death!) is being stressed.  We’ll talk about the myriad of ways to de-stress and feel better.  This is one I personally need to work on!

Friday / Community: Surprised to see this one here?  Well you are the company you keep.  We’ll discuss how to develop your tribe of healthy people from the loved ones in your home to friends, relatives, and neighbors.  Creating community is remarkably powerful.

Saturday / Assess: There’s been some cool stuff happening this week.  What will you keep, what will you put aside for now, what did you hate?  We’ll talk about picking up a few things to stay motivated and keep you at this new healthy level we all just got to.

What do you think?  Would you like to come along with me?  I’d love to have you with us.  Tomorrow I’ll lay out our plan for the week.   We’ll do prep on Sunday and then move on to cardio Monday.
