I am so excited for my trip later this week. I am heading off to Vermont for four days and three nights of Wanderlust. I’ll be doing yoga, hiking barefoot (maybe), and hooping, hooping, hooping. Did I mention there’s a farm-to-table dinner Friday and Ziggy Marley in concert on Saturday night?
Yep, it’s going to be an absolute blast and I have to thank the folks at Timberland for asking me to come as their invited guest. All I can say is: thank you so much!
Even better, the Reluctant Hubby, aka Greg, will be coming along with me and he’s never done yoga before. EVER. I’m already trying not to snicker and I’m going to have to keep a straight face and be supportive when he takes his first class. Or I may have to admit defeat and go to the other side of the room so he can only glare at me from afar while I giggle.
Why is it that I can be so supportive in everyone else’s first baby steps trying a new sport or fitness regimen and with my husband I just wind up laughing hysterically at every bobble? He’s done amazingly well despite my poor attempts to conceal my amusement.
But back to Wanderlust. There are all kinds of experts who will be leading sessions and I am so happy that one of my favorite yoga instructors, Rolf Gates, is going to be teaching. He was my favorite teacher at a certain trendy yoga studio in town, and I was sad when he moved out of the area. So I’m really looking forward to taking his class again. It’s been several years since he left, so I’m wondering how much he and I have evolved. I’m sure he’s improved his practice. Me? I’m not so sure …
I’m excited to participate in a yoga festival because I’ve never been to one before, although I did go to an amazing yoga retreat last fall in Cartagena, Colombia with Escape to Shape. When I was looking over the schedule, I was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of hooping workshops for which I eagerly signed up. I can’t wait to take a chest hooping class! I’m kinda doing it, kinda not doing it, and I’d love the opportunity to smooth out my style.
Basically, Wanderlust is the best of everything earthy-crunchy rolled into one. There will be great shoes courtesy of Timberland, some eco-friendly yoga clothing from Hyde Yoga, lots of healthy activities, fun musicians, and great healthy food. What could be better?
I can’t wait to meet people, film some segments for my Lisa Johnson Fitness YouTube channel, and generally soak in all the positive vibes. Have you ever been to a yoga festival? Do you have any tips for me? I would love to hear them.
By the way, there are three more more Wanderlust Festivals happening this summer: Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado July 5 – 8; Squaw Valley in Tahoe, California July 26 – 29; and Whistler Resort in Canada August 23 – 26, so you can plan to attend yourself this summer.
