Do you prefer to exercise outdoors or inside? Marilyn preferred to workout at home while Jackie preferred to take it to the great outdoors.
Do you prefer weights or cardio? Marilyn was known for her weight routine and Jackie was famous for her long walks through Central Park.
Do you prefer the streamlined approach or a little oomph? Walking was an acceptable fitness approach in the ’60s and ’70s when Jackie was gliding down city streets, but weight lifting was still taboo for women. Marilyn broke the mold when she admitted to doing weight training and even let herself be photographed using them.
Do you dress for training or just wear what you’ve got on? Jackie’s walks included going to work; she frequently transitioned from one activity to the next. Marilyn would do weights first thing in the morning before getting dressed for her day.
Do you share your tips with your friends? Jackie, always demure, didn’t talk much about her health at all. Marilyn was happy to share tips not just with friends but with her fans as well. She wanted them to feel good about their bodies and wanted to let them know she worked at it.
Do you workout solo or with friends? Marilyn preferred private time at home but Jackie would frequently walk with a friend or lover and get quality chatting time in too.
So are you more of a Jackie or more of a Marilyn or a true mix of both? I was inspired by the book, “Are You a Jackie or a Marilyn? Timeless Lessons on Love, Power, and Style” by Pamela Keogh and some great pics I found too. Regardless of their exercise styles which one inspires you more?
