Are You a Fire Starter? Win 1 of 5 Copies of a New Book

The Fire Starter Sessions

Win one of five copies today!

This post is about honor.  I have the honor of being friends with Jacqui Carly, a wonderful woman, singer, yogini, blogger, and life enthusiast who likes to celebrate all that life has to offer.  I also have the honor of knowing Danielle LaPorte through social media circles and have benefited from her wisdom on moving forward and creating the life you want.

LaPorte has just published a new book called “The Fire Starter Sessions.”  The book hit #1 on Amazon in the categories of Success, Motivational, and Entrepreneurship, and I have the honor of giving away five copies on my blog today!  The books have been donated by Jacqui as we both would like to “share” Danielle with you!  How cool is that?

The sub-title of “The Fire Starter Sessions” is “A Soulful + Practical Guide to Creating Success on Your Own Terms” and the book is all about tapping your potential, overcoming very real fears and doing it anyway.  It’s about finding your mojo, your special secret sauce, the true person you were meant to be.  It’s about empowerment and potential, BUT it’s not just in an earthy-crunchy way; it’s more a find yourself and still pay the mortgage kind of way.  This is not “Eat, Pray, Love” encouraging readers to throw everything away and chase after your dreams with a wing and a prayer.  It’s about keeping all that is already good and making it even better.

I’m not the only one paying it forward today; Mara, a healthy-living blogger at Medicinal Marzipan, will be giving away five copies today too! So share some of your own love and check out her great blog where she writes about body image and authentic living. Mara and I have shared blog ideas from our own unique perspectives over the years.

Here’s how to enter my contest:  Just leave a comment below talking about one thing that you love about yourself.  I don’t mean like, I mean adore!  Honor yourself and tell me what makes you happy or amazes you about yourself.  Share it below and I’ll pick a winner at random at 9:00pm EDT this evening.  :-)

To start you off, here’s my thing: I have inherited my grandmother’s fingers.  She could type 120 words per minute on a manual typewriter! Yes, the old-fashioned kind where you had to push the thingy on top to return the carriage back to start the next line.  120 wpm!  Can you imagine?   She bought me my first typewriter for Christmas when I was 12 and told me, “No matter what happens, learn to type and you can always make a living.”  She was so right, but she had no idea that it would be something like blogging that would be my path.  It was an amazing gift of DNA and foresight and Gram, I thank you for both every day.  Oh, and I type a paltry 110 wpm.

Remember, leave a comment below by 9:00 pm Eastern tonight!  While you’re at it, consider joining my mailing list; just sign up over on the top right-hand column!  I’d love to have you receive my weekly newsletter.

What’s your amazing thing?  Cheers,

Lisa

I like my sense of compassion. Through meditation I feel like I carry it with a balanced heart.

Awesome! It sounds like a great read. I need to find my mojo again. I think, today, what I adore about myself is the fact that I can still love certain people that just don’t deserve it. I’m a Christian and Jesus taught us to love and while I couldn’t love this person enough to stay in a relationship with him, I love him enough not to kill him. I adore that about me. ;)

I love how my brain works! I am quite creative and have fantastic ideas. I understand myself, the process I go through when I am making plans and I love that I’ve learned to accept the pace at which I grow and develop.

I adore my writing. I don’t do nearly enough of it, but always inspire myself when I write something really well.

I LOVE my arms! I started working out with a trainer a year ago (plus lifting on my own) and have got great definition in my deltoids. :-)

I love that I’m able to think new thoughts — things that perhaps nobody anywhere has ever thought before. I love that I can simultaneously listen with a sense of wonder and a sense of skepticism. I love that I know far less than I used to know.

I love my hair. It is a reflection of my personality and I don’t try to control it. I care for it and keep it healthy. I nourish and moisturize my curls to keep them from breaking to keep it strong enough withstand the conditions of each season. I let it part whichever way it decides each day, perhaps that is indicative of which side of my brain will be most active that day. It is soft and wild, stubborn and dark and silky. I love it and I love me. It is my crown of glory.

I love my voice! In both the physical and metaphysical sense. I sing for a living and there’s nothing else on this planet that brings me more joy and love in my life. I’m also a writer (working on my MFA) so my voice on paper is as equally important as the one I use with my mouth. So many ways to express myself and get some really awesome conversations going!

I love that I am able to open my mind to new experiences and new ways of being. I am actively working on loving myself more and radiating that love out to the world!

I somehow somewhere inherited an almost uncanny ability to learn languages (that also translates into doing accents, and combined with a sense of timing, sometimes makes wine come out of people’s noses). I often surprise myself! Within a few weeks of being in Rome I’m understanding most of what’s going on in Italian and conjugating the subjunctive; I live and work in French and people are sometime surprised to learn my native language is English; when I travel in Spanish speaking countries people at first think I’m Argentinian. My next one – Dutch, the language of my roots and the mother tongue of my parents and grandparents.

I love my tenacity. Hitting the gym every morning at 5:30 a.m. is not easy, but I manage. (Most mornings, that is!)

I love that I am willing to jump fully into an opportunity, often without even looking to see where I might land.

I love that I can see how things in the world are interconnected. I’ve always understood the big picture of whatever endeavor I take, and can communicate that big picture to others.
