10 Reasons to Work Out … Now!

It’s been too long since I’ve given you some tough love. I can sense that you need it.

Any New Year’s resolutions have been mostly abandoned and you’re not yet thinking about strolling down the beach this summer. It’s easy to peter out around this time of year, but nope, I won’t let you. Here are 10 reasons to work out … right now!

You’ll be calmer.  Get those endorphins rushing all over and you’ll feel so much better. A little cardio, a little pushing iron, how about a yoga or Pilates class? Once you’re done, the little things won’t bother you at all.

You’ll feel sexier.  Fitness breeds confidence and a confident person is sexy! Pull your shoulders back, walk with a little sass, and just feel darned good about who you are. Your clothes will fit better, heads will turn as you glide by, and yep, you’re sexy as hell. Embrace it!

You’ll think better.  Several studies show that cognitive abilities improve with regular exercise. You’ll see job performance improve, problem solving will be less of a struggle, and this will just make your whole life a lot easier.

You’ll be healthier.  Less colds! Anything you catch will linger only briefly. You’ll have more energy … generally speaking, you’ll just feel a whole lot better on a day-to-day, consistent basis.

You’ll sleep better.  How many days a week do you struggle to get a good night’s sleep? Regular exercise can really help you snooze like a baby, and sleep is so restorative to all of our body’s systems. It’s crucial for our day-to-day functioning. Just remember to stop exercise at least three hours before bedtime or it could actually keep you awake longer.

You’ll be happier.  Regular doping of endorphins is totally legal and actually encouraged! Yes, regular exercise promotes feelings of happiness and well-being. You’ll be gaining confidence in all areas of your life when you regularly exercise and I don’t need to tell you this is a good thing.

You’ll eat less.  As long as you ditch the idea that more exercise = more treats. If you listen to your body, you’ll find yourself craving sugars and starches less and reaching for veggies and water more. This is part of what I call the upward spiral of one good thing leading to another.

Your skin will glow.  Regular perspiration and increased heart rate helps to keep the skin refreshed. You’ll hardly have to do anything before you leave in the morning. You’ll declog pores, improve circulation, and generally get that lovely glow of health that we all find so appealing (think back above to you’ll feel sexier).

You’ll be stronger.  A flight of stairs won’t pose a problem, lifting grocery bags becomes a breeze, all the daily activities will be easier, and you’ll be amazed at your own strength. The feeling of satisfaction as you bang out pushups from your toes or push through a plateau while the guy next to you struggles? It’s a great self-esteem boost.

You’ll have better sex.  Leave the lights on! Romp with your partner and have a bloody good time! You’ll be stronger, you’ll feel sexier, your skin will glow, your endurance will be longer. Your lover will want to be with you and make you happy. Let them!

How about you? What would you add to this list? Which one of the above is your favorite?

I personally have to go with I feel sexier … Of the 10 reasons to work out, that one definitely gives me the biggest confidence boost. The only downside? I want to buy more  sexy clothes.

Cheers,

Lisa
